Wednesday Bible Study Recap: Genesis 1
Yesterday was our first Wednesday Bible Study of the Fall quarter. We started with a delicious mapo tofu dinner and then had a short icebreaker as we got to know each other better.
Then we had a Bible Study on Genesis 1, learning about how we should approach studying the Bible. Instead of just asking How the world was made, we needed to ask the more important question of Who made everything and Why.
The two main points through Genesis 1 were: 1) Main character is God 2) God is the Creator
We ended our time watching a moving video of God’s creation to the song, God of Wonders. Click on the video to watch.

Wed., Oct. 2: Wednesday Weekly Bible Study
Join us for the first weekly Bible Study of the Fall Quarter. We will be studying the first book of the Bible, Genesis chapter 1. Feel free to read it in advance to see the themes and topics we will talk about. We will begin with 7pm dinner at SCC Meeting Room D (on the second floor), and then begin our Bible Study at 7:45pm. Recap: International Student Welcome Night
The much anticipated International Student Welcome Night finally happened on September 20! We had a packed house at SCC Multipurpose Room and we almost ran out of food! After a delicious dinner, we started off the night with a UC Davis trivia game.
- Our game host Brian was explaining the game and also the grand prize of some yummy chocolate.
- The competition was fierce!
- After the excitement, we settled down to watch a funny but thought provoking skit called “Race of a Lifetime”
Our invited speaker, John, gave a short talk on creating and valuing meaningful encounters while we are in college. He recounted his own meaningful encounters that led him to understand Christianity. The audience was attentive throughout the time.
We had a lot of meaningful discussions afterwards as we made new connections with those who came.
We hope to see the many new friends we met that night to come back in the future, and may remember this night as one of the meaningful encounters in their lives!
Sat., Sept. 28: Mid-Autumn Bible Study, Potsticker Night and Games, 6:30pm
We’re having a special Bible Study on Saturday this week. Come join us as we continue to study the Bible together. Afterwards, we’ll have a time of making homemade potickers, followed by games. This will be at the church building at 607 Pena Dr. Rides are provided.
Fri., Sept. 27: The Buzz & Dessert, 7:00pm @ MU Quad Flag Pole
This Friday we’ll be checking out The Buzz on the MU Quad, which is a campus-wide event with food and activities. Afterwards, we’ll get some delicious dessert in downtown Sacramento. Meet us at the flagpole at the MU Quad area at 7pm.
Sun., Sept. 22: Church Service, 1:30pm @ 123 Sciences Lecture Hall
Our Sunday Service at Gracepoint Davis Church is on campus at 123 Sciences Lecture Hall. Join us for a time of studying the Bible and snacks afterwards. Anyone is invited to join us!
Friday, Sept. 20: International Student Welcome Night, 7pm @ SCC
We invite you to our International Grad and Undergrad Welcome Night! This will be the first big meeting for the beginning of our International Undergraduate Student Ministry (IUSM) as well. We’ll have a free dinner, skit, thought-provoking message and more!
It’s a great opportunity for international students to meet new friends and find out about our group and Christianity. All new (and continuing) international student is invited to join us!

Friday, Sept. 13 :: Board Games & Shaved Ice (7-10pm @ 115 Wellman Hall)
Our first IUSM Welcome Event of 2013 is a fun Board Game Night & Shaved Ice!
It’s a great way to meet the members of IUSM and other new International students with fun board games, group games, and of course, tasty shaved ice! You won’t want to miss out on this!
